I am Dr Elena Peters, a Chartered Psychologist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the Division of Counselling Psychology of the British Psychological Society.
During my training and post-qualifying, I received extensive training in applying Psychodynamic Therapy, Relational Approach, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Compassion Focussed Therapy, Emotionally Focussed Therapy, and EMDR more recently.
I aim to maintain high levels of expertise and commit to continuous learning and applied experience.
Hence, my work is informed by evidence-based research, and I participate in regular supervision to keep up to date with new developments.
I have worked professionally with individuals, couples and groups since 2005 and have over 16 years of experience in psychotherapeutic and mental health settings.
I have experience working for the NHS, mental health organisations such as Mind, student-counselling services, Headway (a brain injury charity) and private practice.
My particular areas of interest are mental health, personal traumas, relational and attachment issues, and brain injury, more specifically, surviving and coping with the effects of brain injuries.
I can also work effectively with individuals from diverse social and cultural backgrounds.
I can support clients who would like a space to reflect upon and better understand themselves or for students on training to increase their self-development.
I adopt an integrative and flexible approach in my clinical practice, considering clients’ particular needs and therapy goals.
As a chartered member of the British Psychological Society, I adhere to its Ethics and Code of Conduct.
Please note that while I am practising under my maiden name, Peters, most of my qualifications and memberships are under Dr Elena Chtereva.
